How Autoresponders Can Help Your Online Business

Research has shown that the average person needs to view your ad 7 - 12 times before they feel confident enough to make a purchase. This means that while you may have the best product, sales copy and website in the world, the average person is simply not going to buy on their first visit. And while it would be nice to think that your product is so great that said visitor is not going to be able to get it out of their mind until he or she comes back and makes the purchase, the reality is that most people are looking for reasons not to buy. That is where an autoresponder can be put to work; slowly removing doubts and increasing your prospects trust and comfort level with your company, all on auto-pilot. The bottom line is this, if you are not using an autoresponder to capture your visitors contact information, you are losing money. While there are a number of ways that an autoresponder can be used to increase profits, the most basic strategy is this: 1. Place an opt-in form on your websites home page as well as any pertinent spot within your sub pages. 2. While it is not essential, a great way to increase sign ups is to offer some free content such as a report, an ebook, a discount, etc, in exchange for the vistors name and email address. Warning: Unless it is absolutely essential do not ask for more information that that. It can often scare off potential sign ups. If a visitor smells even the slightest hint of spam, they will pass on your offer. 3. Load your autoresponder with a series of messages. This might be a series of testimonials that you want to share with your list. It could be an unadvertised or limited time offer. If you are soft selling as in the first example, send the emails out every 4 or 5 days, maybe once a week for a month. If you are hard selling as in the second example, send an email announcing that you will be having a fire-sale or a limited-time-offer in the next 24 - 48 hours. This heightens their awareness and creates a sense of urgency. Then follow up the next day with the actual offer. The best part about autoresponders is that you are creating an entirely new source of revenue that is literally working for you while you sleep. You simply set it and forget it, and watch the sales role in.
